Thanks to a generous donation six wells were drilled in Ejere District, West Shewa Zone, Ethiopia in 2011.

The six sites were evaluated by water engineer Dr Ken Edworthy with the help of the British Consultancy Charitable Trust (BCCT). Ken visited all the sites and then met the drilling companies to assess their capability.

Drilling began in March 2011 and all the wells were completed within three weeks. After the installation of the pumps the water quality was tested and the sites inaugurated in June.

The estimated number of people these wells will serve is around 10,000 and adding together the total costs of this project, it works out at clean water for £2.91 per person. A fantastic success and something we plan to do more of in the future!
