About Us
Who We Are
For Ethiopia is a small UK registered charity (number 1108526) operating from Bristol with over 20 years of proven success in transforming the lives of rural girls and young women in rural Ethiopia. It was formally established in October 2004, twenty years after the BBC first broke the story of the famine in Ethiopia to the British public’s attention on 24th October 1984.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a future, in partnership with the Ejerie community in Ethiopia and our friends in the UK, where all children and young people in the Ejerie region of Ethiopia- particularly girls and young women- have access to quality education and comprehensive wellbeing support. This enables them to thrive in learning environments that are safe, transformative, inclusive, and empowering, fostering economic independence and a greater range of career opportunities as adults.
Since 2004, we have consistently delivered positive educational outcomes, helping to break cycles of poverty and marginalisation. Our commitment to collaboration and sustainability ensures that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed in safe and empowering environments.

Education
We support rural girls through secondary school, help young people access higher and vocational education, provide hardship assistance in primary schools, and ensure children with SEND can learn with specialist support.

Holistic Wellbeing
We promote health and wellbeing, including menstrual health and dignity for girls, through targeted school-based campaigns and services.
