The Big Give

For-ethiopia works to relieve poverty and sickness, to preserve and protect health and to advance education among the people of Ethiopia who are in need.

We aim to do this in a way that is sustainable and helps the people move towards self-sufficiency

Health

In the Ejere County there are 27 rural Health Posts and 4 Health Centres. The Health posts, which are without mains electricity or running water, serve around 4000 people, and are staffed by Health Extension Workers (nurses with nine months training.) The Health Centres have fully trained nurses and midwives but the whole region has no doctors.

Education

It is not only access to schools, but the quality of schooling that is vital to maximise the benefits of education to children.  In order to boost the capability of the schools, we have been providing equipment to many of the schools in the area.

Water & Sanitation

Since 2004, four springs have been capped and eleven wells constructed, providing safe, clean water for over 5,000 people. A total of 8 toilet blocks have also been constructed and training days stressing the importance of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) have been run in these communities.

Donations

As a small charity, we have the benefit of very low overheads. We do not hire professional fundraisers or rent expensive offices.

Because of this we are able to put more of the money directly to projects to benefit those who need it!
