For-ethiopia is looking to appoint up to three new trustees. While we are interested to hear from experienced Trustees, please see below further detail for current specific needs in the charity.
Who we are
We are a small Bristol based charity founded in 2004. We work closely with our implementing partner, For Development Association Ethiopia (FDAE), which is rooted in the community in Ejere, Ethiopia. As a charity with a humble beginning, we believe small can be impactful.
Our Approach and Vision
Our approach is a holistic one with a vision to see healthy, educated and self-sufficient communities within the Ejere district of Ethiopia with a particular focus on the education and wellbeing of rural girls.
Our Mission
For the next two years, the focus of our work include:
- Enhancing the secondary school Underhill Scholarship Scheme to enable rural girls to complete secondary education and expansion of the girls’ training and resource centre
- Expanding our support for girls through further education in training colleges and university
- Continuing to support children through the Hardship Fund for Primary Schools due to challenges they face from being orphaned, living in a household in chronic illness and other challenges
- Continuing to support children with special needs through the Ejere Primary school and promoting awareness and development of these facilities
- Improving the health and wellbeing of children and young adults within the educational setting.
For-ethiopia’s Current open vacancy for Trustees include
- Charity Secretary – with knowledge and experience in legal and human resources; a very strong and current knowledge of charity commission policies and rules or willingness to learn these. Competency in written communication. Highley organised. Ability and experience to develop new and maintain existing policies e.g. safeguarding. Strong communication skills.
- Charity International Development fundraiser – With experience or strong network and background in the development sector. Experience of fundraising with trusts, foundations, experience of working with philanthropists, corporate, and others.
- Charity Digital media coordinator : experience in website creation/maintenance, marketing and strong communication skills. Proven skills in writing and communicating in the field of development and significant awareness of ethical issues involving charity work challenges and opportunities.
- Health or education professional – with experience of programme development and can develop future areas of our strategy to work in and around children’s health in an educational setting.
