Celebrating 10 years of operation!
On 26th September 2004 the Trust Deed was signed which brought For-ethiopia into formal existence!
We started with just four trustees, two of whom are still here (although the others are still very active in other ways!) and currently have seven. Once you become part of For-ethiopia you never escape!!! We also gained the services of the lovely Professor Alice Roberts (‘only’ a Doctor when she first joined us!) as our Patron.
In that ten years our income has grown tremendously thanks to our wonderful supporters, many of whom have been giving from the beginning. We have also been fortunate to receive a number of grants from Trusts and other organisations.
Many people in the Ejere region of Ethiopia have benefitted from the various projects and we plan to bring you updates on some of these over the next few months.
Our philosophy of remaining a kitchen table charity has remained, albeit we now usually meet around a dining table, and we strongly believe Small is Beautiful! In the UK we still do not employ staff or rent offices and in Ethiopia we have a small staff of dedicated locals without whom the implementation of these projects would not be possible.
We wish to thank everyone involved in For-ethiopia, in whatever way, for being with us on the wonderful journey so far.
Please spread the word on social media using the hashtag #FEis10 and hopefully the next ten years will be as successful!
