Less than a month till departure, what are Ros and Nancy up to?
Prior to her departure at the beginning of July, Ros Bennet has got a mention in the July edition of Yachting Monthly:
‘Ros Bennet, 72, plans to sail her Cornish Crabber 24, Demelza, from Falmouth to Falmouth via London, Bristol and thee Isles of Scilly in aid of the charity For-Ethiopia. Family and friends will join her for the 900-mile trip.
‘It’s ironic I’m sailing in aid of a landlocked country,’ says Ros. ‘However, in the villages in Ethiopia, water is collected by the women and carried miles in 25 litre containers. My boat’s container only takes 10 litres, so I know what a desperately hard job this is. I hope my journey will raise enough money to drill a well in an Ethiopian village so there will be clean water nearer to where it is needed,’she said.’
|Her spare time is now being spent in Cornwall preparing Demelza for the adventure.|
|This is proving extremely tiring for First Mate Nancy Blackett.|
