BBC Celebrity Mastermind - The chair

The BBC Mastermind Chair!

For-ethiopia patron Professor Alice Roberts was in Manchester on Sunday (25 November 2012) to sat in the infamous black chair for the filming of BBC Celebrity Mastermind.

Trustee’s Sue Thomas and Rob Grieve traveled up to the MediaCityUK studios to give moral support and had a fantastic evening watching two episodes of the show being filmed. The programme is due to be broadcast after Christmas and although we now know who won we are sworn to absolute secrecy!

Fellow contestants with Alice were actor Ewan MacIntosh (Keith in The Office), former Radio 1 DJ Bobby Friction and comedian Simon Evans

For those of you keen to know what Alice’s specialist subject was you may be thinking anatomy, human evolution or even the life and times of Tony Robinson. Well, no. It was The Moomins!!!

Each contestant was raising money for their chosen charity and Alice was obviously raising money for For-ethiopia. The other charities involved were Plan UK, Cancer Research UK and the Steven Gerrard Foundation.

Contestants on the other episode were Steve Punt, John Hammond, Michael Obiora and Clemency Burton-Hill.

A nice tie-in to this story is that John Humphrys was one of the first people to give For-ethiopia a grant when we received £6000 through the Kitchen Table Charities Trust in 2006.

More details about the show and broadcast times will appear on the BBC website in due course:
